Electroclinic Ltd

A lot of iPhone users tend to use their iPhone without updating its software. There are obviously many reasons one should update their phone, and a couple of those are; performance issues and security vulnerabilities. Apple has released a vital security update after receiving an active malicious threat that can be used to read and write important data such as; read messages and emails, record phone calls and third party app calls, GPS and location tracking as well as manage your iPhone’s microphone and camera. A similar threat called ‘trident’ is a spyware software that can exploit vulnerabilities within the iOS 9 software version.

How to Update iPhone’s Software

Updating your iPhone couldn’t be easier. All you need to do is follow a few steps, and all will be done. You will also need a decent internet connection so you can download the software and install it at the same time. Here the steps to take to update your iPhone:

Checking Software Version

1)    Navigate to the ‘Settings’ App and press it.

2)    From the ‘Settings’, go to ‘General’.

3)    From ‘General’ press ‘About’.

Note: in the ‘About’ section there should be a section called ‘Version’ on the right hand side of the screen, the version should be at least 9.3.5, if you have a lower version of this number, then it is time to update your phone.

Download and Install Software Update

In order to download and install the iPhone software update, just simply navigate to the ‘Settings’ app again, then press ‘Software Update’. If you are connected to the internet, your iPhone will automatically check for the latest software update. As soon as an update has been detected, press the ‘Download and Install’ and allow the update to commence. If you have set up a passcode, you will need to enter it and agree to the iOS terms and conditions. If you have a fast internet connection, the update should take any more than 5-10 minutes.
